IMPERIAL GERMAN REGIMENTAL STEIN FROM THE 3rd
GUARD REGIMENT. Stein measures 11 1/4" in height. The body of the stein reads "3. Garde Regt. zu Fuss. Berlin 1900/1902" around the base. The top reads "Wer treu gedient hat seine Beit dem sei ein voller Krug geweiht". The central portion includes vivid polychromatic scenes of soldiers in a camp scene & during battle. The base has a lithophane that shows a bust view of a German Officer in uniform. The elaborate pewter lid is topped with a seated soldier drinking from his canteen. CONDITION: light wear overall. The finial is undamaged. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18609/BF). $300-500.
