IMPERIAL GERMAN REGIMENTAL STEIN FROM THE HESSIAN
INFANTRY REGIMENT. Stein measures 10 1/4" in height. The body of the stein reads "3. Comp. Inftr. Regt. Hessen Homb. No 166. Hanau. 1904-06" around the base. The top reads "Zur Erinnerung an das Kaisermanover im Taunusgebrige. September 1905." The central portion includes vivid polychromatic scenes of soldiers in a camp scene & during battle. The base has a lithophane of a soldier saying farewell to his wife. The elaborate pewter lid is topped with a reclining soldier drinking from his canteen. CONDITION: light wear overall. The finial on the lid a bit bent. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18597/BF). $300-500.
