Cal. 7.63mm. S# 10114. Bbl. 5 1/2". Standard late production Conehammer with a 5.5" bbl., fixed front sight, and pinned rear sight graduated 50-500. Long extractor, independently secured firing pin, and early safety. Top of chamber with usual 3-line address: Crown/"C"/"U" on left side of bbl. extension; antler proof on right side. Major components are rust-blued with the usual fire-blued small parts. The bolt, hammer, and trigger assembly are in-the-white. Extensive disassembly shows an all-matching gun, save for the firing pin, which is stuck and cannot be checked. Serrated wood grips are each matched to the pistol. A lanyard ring is present. Extensively cutaway under the documented direction of noted Mauser collector/specialist Joseph J. Schroeder, author of System Mauser. Cutaway is closely modeled after pictured examples with windows in the chamber area to show bolt/firing pin assembly, follower/follower spring, and virtually all the functioning components on either side of the frame. CONDITION: good original finish, with most of the surface on the left side toned or faded to a brownish gray. Most remain rusty blue on the right side of the frame and lower surfaces. Comparable-condition grips that are dark with slightly flattened serrations and numerous light handling marks. Bore is dark, with barely discernible rifling. Proper manual mechanics. A wonderful opportunity to get an impressively cutaway Conehammer, whose was explicitly performed under the direction of Joseph J. Schroeder. PROVENANCE: the collection of Curtis H. Halvorson. (01-25353/LMA). ANTIQUE. $2,500-4,500.
