INCREDIBLY RARE HK 512 SHOTGUN 1 OF ONLY 343.

Cal. 12 Ga. S# S88936. Bbl. 18". Mfg. HK. Originally manufactured for the GSG 9 Counter Terrorism Unit in Germany, only a tiny handful ever made it to the United States over 30 years ago. A corporative effort between Franchi in Italy & H&K in West Germany the Model 512 would become a historic launching point for the enormous number of law enforcement & military shotguns that are so common today. A factory over run led to the importation of 343 examples brought in to the United States by Kiesler Police Supply of Jeffersonville, Indiana in the early 1990's w/ a wholesale price of $1,895. This gas operated, self loading 12 ga. shotgun had a feeding tube providing a 7 rd. capacity of 2 3/4" shells. Bbl. is terminated w/ a unique shot diverter muzzle device which created an oval pattern very reminiscent to the function of the Great Lakes "Duckbill Choke" as used in Vietnam by Special Forces. It is intended for buckshot use only. Bbl. stamped "UNM 1325" on left side below rear sight. Matte black finish accented w/ gorgeous checkered walnut stocks. The front sight is a raised blade w/ a rear folding sight adj. for windage & elevation. Bottom sling swivels front & rear. Left side receiver marked "K.P.S. JEFF, IN."/"REC FRANCHI ITALY". Right side receiver marked "HK MOD. 512"/"HECKLER & KOCH GMBH OBERNDORF / N" / "W-GERMANY" with serial number. Right side reciprocating charging handle. Push button safety located in trigger guard, rear of trigger. CONDITION: finish on all exposed metal surfaces complete & consistent w/ only a few light marks visible on close inspection. Diverter muzzle brake demonstrates thinning which appears to be normal since every example this cataloger has seen has the same finish. Front stock has a sm. impression at 6 o'clock & rear stock possesses a few sm. impressions as well as a light scratch on right side primarily in the checkering. Bore is bright & fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (22-295/JZ). MODERN. $3,000-4,500.
