ACTION RIFLE TO SINGLE SHOT .410 MUSKET. Cal. 410. S# 4202R. Bbl. 25". Serial numbers match on receiver, bolt, rear sight, forend & bayonet lug. These rifles were converted by Ishapore to a smooth bore taking a special .410 musket cartridge & converted to single shot operation by eliminating the mag. & mag. well. These muskets were intended for riot & guard duty. Buttstock marked on right side w/ crown "GR" "ENFIELD" "1918" "SHT L.E" "III" "star". Marked on left side of butt socket "410" "RFI" "1949". Receiver has metal trough underneath bolt to guide cartridge into chamber. Trigger guard has wooden plug in mag. well fitted flush w/ forend. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 yards. Sight leaf has additional hole for locking screw which is not present. Bbl. is marked on front sight w/ "SCHV". Blade front sight. Bayonet mt. has protective ears. Hardwood stock & handguards. Buttstock has circular markings on right side which include "SRD" & broad arrow and "DTE" & broad arrow. Buttstock marked w/ white "21" on left side. Brass trap buttplate. Forend has "Indian Kiss" reinforcing screw. 2 Sm. pins to retain mag. filler. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear, staining & handling marks throughout. Buttstock has inletted repair at heel & toe. Front handguard has brass reinforcing pin ahead of rear sight. Metal turning gray & patina w/ wear & thinning. Very good shiny smooth bore. (22-595/RW).
