SEVEN SHOT REVOLVER. Cal. 32 Rimfire. S# 2235. Bbl. 6". This scarce Civil War side arm is well made w/ unique swiveling bbl. when frame screw is removed. Oct. bbl. marked "D. MOORE. PATENT. SEPT. 18. 1860". A famous pair of Moore pistols are memorialized in a 1902 book "The Twin Seven Shooters" by Bvt. Brig. Gen. Charles Manderson, which an original copy is included in this lot. This example has an engraved name on butt, most likely of unidentified Civil War officer: "U. S. REED". CONDITION: very good overall. Bbl. retains traces of blue in protected areas. Engraved brass frame, trigger guard & backstrap retain much of their original silver plate. Grips retain 80% of their factory varnish. Mechanically fine w/ crisp, rifled bore.
