INTERESTING GROUPING OF U.S. 20TH CENTURY BAYONETS

1) U.S. Model 1905. 16" fullered blade. Marked on left Ricasso "RIA" "flaming bomb" & "1907". Right Ricasso marked w/ "U.S." & "S# 115946". Coarse turned walnut grips. Leather Model 1905 scabbard w/ long metal throat fastened w/ 3 rivets. Scabbard is marked "R.I.A." "1907." & "H.E.K." CONDITION: bright blade turning gray w/ spots of peppery oxidation. Balance of metal has thinning worn blue w/ handling marks, sm. spots of oxidation. Grips are worn nearly smooth & have scattered handling marks. Scabbard has wear, scuffing & handling marks. Markings are visible. Stitching is tight. Blued metal throat has light oxidation & scattered handling marks. 2) U.S. Model 1905.16" Fullered blade bayonet. Marked on left Ricasso "SA" "flaming bomb" & "1919". marked on right Ricasso w/ "U.S." & S#. Walnut grips have coarse turning marks. Blade has dark Parkerizing except for Ricasso area. Balance of metal has gray/green Parkerized appearance. Unmarked scabbard is wood covered w/ khaki canvas. Metal throat w/ alloy insert. Scabbard has black leather tip. Drain hole is silver colored grommet. CONDITION: blade has lg. percentage of dark Parkerizing w/ thinning & light wear. Balance of Parkerizing has moderate wear. Grips have light wear & staining. Scabbard has light wear, staining, loose stitching at tip & canvas does not completely cover throat. Belt hook appears to be lighter than normal ga. wire. Catch is broken on one side of throat. 3) Model 1917 U.S. bayonet. 16-7/8" Fullered blade. Left Ricasso marked "1917" & encircled "REMINGTON". Right Ricasso has "flaming bomb" "U.S." & "Eagle head 19" acceptance mark. Walnut grips have 2 grooves. Pommel made w/o oil hole. Unmarked green colored leather scabbard w/ metal throat & tip. CONDITION: bright blade w/ very light wear. Balance of blued metal has light high point wear. Very good grips w/ several scattered handling marks. Scabbard has wear, scratches & thinning green finish. Metal turning gray & patina. 4) U.S. Model 1917. 17" Fullered blade. Blade is marked on left Ricasso "1917" & encircled "REMINGTON". Right Ricasso marked w/ "U.S." "flaming bomb" "Eagle head" acceptance mark & "20". Bright blade. Balance of metal is blue including Ricasso. Walnut grips w/ 2 vertical grooves. Green leather scabbard w/ metal throat & tip. Scabbard is marked on back "H.E." Metal throat is marked "MS". CONDITION: blade is turning gray w/ spots of peppery oxidation. Blued parts have wear & thinning. Grips have good appearance but scattered handling marks throughout. Scabbard has fading green finish w/ handling marks. Metal tips have wear & turning gray & patina. 5) Modern made unmarked Model 1917 type bayonet. Possibly made in Canada for the Vietnam War. 16-5/8" Fullered blade. Blade & metalwork has gray Parkerizing. Black plastic checkered grips. Crossguard & catch button manufactured using roll pins. Green plastic scabbard marked "U.S.-1917" "B.A. INC". CONDITION: bayonet has 80% Parkerized finish w/ light wear. Grips have very good appearance. Scabbard has wear & scuffing. Metal throat is turning gray. (02-16411-2/RW) $700-900.
