DOUBLE RIFLE WITH MOLD AND CASE. Cal. 16 Ga., 1 1/2" (.672 Groove diameter). S# 22902 (on bbl.). Bbls. 27 1/2" Damascus fitted w/ slightly raised matted rib holding 2 folding leaf rear & silver bead front sights. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ Belgian black powder proofs. Case hardened Gibbs & Pitt lever cocking sidelock action features automatic safety & dbl. triggers. Action is engraved w/ sprays of nicely cut sm. scroll, makers name "Schwartz Freres Mersch (Lu??g)" on left lock & "Armuriers de SA Majeste le Roi Grand - Duc" on right lock. Plain European walnut buttstock measures 13 1/8" over flat butt on 2" extension, having a lace-on pad. Matching splinter forend has Anson release. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: green painted canvas leather trimmed case lined in peach colored cloth. Case contains a Hawksley rnd. oil bottle, various cartridge cases & a steel mold casting a conical bullet .688 dia. (which should work well in this rifle). CONDITION: fair to good. Bbls. have most of an old re-brown over scattered light pitting. Action is mostly bright silver to gray w/ wear noted on beads & fences. Stocks have old oil refinish, checkering recut. Bores are very fine, shiny w/ sharp rifling & some scattered minor pits toward breech ends. Action is loose. Bbls. are off face. Otherwise mechanically good. Case is good. Straps & handle are a bit tender. Interior is soiled & rubbed. It would be a fun project to get this rifle back into shooting condition. (01-17709/MGM64). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
