Imperial German Naval Officer's Lion's Head Sword, dating from 1890's to 1920's. This sword was an issue sword and is marked on the folding rear langet ''O.2179'', which stands for ''Ostsee Fleet, Item number 2179'' (Eastern Fleet). Brass lion's head pommel with small decorated handguard; front and rear folding langets with large fouled anchor on front. White composite grip is missing all of its twisted wire wrapping. Pipe-backed style blade is 31.5'' long and maker marked by E&F Horster in Solingen at the ricasso. Condition overall is good. Blade is nickel plated with some losses and minor pitting to the tip and light rust at the ricasso area. Scabbard is leather with decorated brass fittings. Leather shows age, lots of scuffs and scratches, and losses to the black finish. There are a couple of the retaining staples missing on the brass fittings, and the bottom drag fitting is loose.
