Indian Toradar Matchlock Rifle, NVSN, approx. .62 cal., 46.5'' smoothbore barrel, approx. 67'' overall, lock and breech area of stock reinforced with iron plates with ornamental edges on front and back; iron butt cap, four decorative iron barrel bands, rear sling swivel near front of action plates, front sling swivel missing, ''V''-rear sight and bead front sight, iron ramrod, and decorative iron trigger. Barrel tang has a deeply impressed proof or maker's mark. There is a thin flat iron cover for the touch hole. Rear sight is integral with a thick rear barrel band retainer. Action functions properly, lowering the match holder to the touch hole. Condition is very good with an even dark rust patina over all the barrel, barrel bands, iron reinforcing plates, and action parts. Stock has a pleasing dark patina. There is a spot about 17'' from the front where the stock was repaired with a ''V''-shaped splice or possibly originally done to construct the stock, as the color and patina of the wood is the same. (This repair is very old and contemporary with the age of the gun.) There are some losses to the wood on sides of barrel, and wear from use. Numerous dings, scratches, and small depressions, mainly on front section of stock. Est.: $300-$500. (Antique)(John Ackerman collection)
