Indian Used Springfield Trapdoor Carbine
Antique U.S. military trapdoor single shot rifle captured and used by Native American Indians. The serial number has been obliterated but it appears to be a five digit number. Features a 22" barrel, pinned brass blade front sight, graduated rear sight(missing slider) marked "C", single barrel band, cut-off sling bar, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur and half-stock straight grip walnut should stock with trapdoor metal carbine buttplate. The rifle is also accompanied by an antique hang tag that reads ".45/70 Springfield Carbine of type used by Custer's 7th cavalry - is though ?? captured by Indians at Custer battle later stolen from Indians by mont. gold miners at Banniek" & "Louie Pome". Markings - Barrel: "R" & "V/P/[Eagle Head]/P". Breech Block: "U.S./MODEL/1873". & Lock: "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" & "[Eagle]/[Arrows]".
