Ithaca Model Knick Grade 4E Engraved 12 ga. Single Barrel Trap Shotgun. Manufactured 1926. 30 1/4" vent rib barrel, white Bradley front bead and small white mid bead. Features hand engraving throughout the receiver, upper tang, lower tang, trigger guard, and metal accent pieces. The flanks of the mono-forged barrel block has star burst patterns and line border engraving. All matching serial numbers. The left side of the frame has floriated elements and a man in a field, shouldering a firearm. The underside of the frame, underside of the trigger guard and right side of the frame have more floriated engraving and the right features an eagle holding arrows, both flanks read “ITHACA GUN CO". The belly of the butt stock has a copper toned shield metal insert and an old plastic covered tag with name and Oregon address. The stocks are two-piece carved and checkered walnut with beavertail forend, white insert in fore tip, capped clear & red Lucite pistol grip, straight comb. In production from 1922 until the last Knick was made in 1982, 5740 were produced. By 1935 the Knick in the hands of able shooters won the Grand American Handicap six times. Serrated wide trigger shoe installed. The bore is very good/bright, the blue has faded, turning gray in some areas, handling loss on the bottom metal, the stock is overall very good/sound with sharp checkering, the shoulder stock has been modified by raising the comb with a wood insert, looks good, the lop has been lengthened by adding 2" of wood to the stock. Pachmayr vented rubber recoil pad. The upper tang screw is missing. Barrel locks-up tight. LOP-14 1/4".
