American classic side-by-side box-lock shotgun chambered for 2-3/4" 12 Gauge shells. Specifically, this is a Lewis Grade 1 example of the Ithaca Hammerless shotgun with an added bolt through the rib extension. Lewis model serial number range was 55,000 to 123,600, and were produced from 1901 until 1906. Shotgun features a blued and color-case hardened finish, approximately 30" matted ribbed 'KRUPP FLUID STEEL' barrels, bores measure 'Full' with a drop-in gauge, brass bead front sight, hammerless, dual smooth curved triggers, checkered sliding tang safety, checkered top lever, and an extractor. The receiver is engraved with the letter 'S' and the number '12' on the water table. both sides of the receiver surfaces displays a banner inscribed 'ITHACA HAMMERLESS' with tightly surrounding floral scrolls, and limited geometric edge patterns. The walnut furniture consists of a semi-pistol grip shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, a checkered black plastic grip cap, 14-1/2" length-of-pull to the front trigger, 2-1/8" drop at comb, 3" drop at heel, a checkered splinter-style forend, and red Pachmayr ventilated rubber recoil pad with white and black spacers. The water table, barrels, and forend all have matching serial numbers '78033.' The original blued finish retained is approximately 75% with handling blemishes, some edge wear, and general thinning to where the finish is taking on a dark gray patina. The color-case finish has faded a bit, but still shows some brilliant coloring. Metal displays some light oxidative speckling on the bottom of the barrel (under handguard), a small dent on the right barrel, and some slight deformation in a couple of the screw slots. Bore shows some light speckling in the bores, but are still pretty bright and shiny. Hardwood furniture is in fair condition with scattered handling blemishes, and a crack behind the left side of the receiver. The action is smooth with the action opening quickly under its own weight, and the action lever rests slightly to the left of the tang's centerline. The action has a crisp lock-up.
Condition is NRA Fair to Good.
