1943 WW2 U.S. Military pistol, semi-automatic. This is a R.I.A. rework, Magazine fed, short recoil. 5" Barrel. Slide mounted front blade and U-notch rear sights. Parkerized "Wartime" metal finish. Grip safety, lanyard ring, serrated main spring housing. Right frame stamped , to the rear of the slide stop pin is "United States Property" with the serial number below it. "M1911A1 U.S. Army" is stamped to the front of pin, crossed cannons ordnance stamp, "2" is stamped on the right triggerguard. Left side of frame is stamped in 2 lines "Ithaca Gun Co. Inc, Ithaca. NY." "P" is stamped in front of the rear sight, and below the magazine release button. Blued barrel . Left triggerguard has proof. "FJA" inspectors stamp is present below the slide catch. (Col. Frank J. Atwood) Brown checkered 'diamond' wood grips have a dark wartime finish applied.. Bore is excellent/bright. Slide action is smooth/tight. Metal finish is about 94% with edge wear, minor friction wear on slide, and some minor scratches. Comes with original 'C-R' marked magazine. (Made by sub contractor Risdon Tool Co. for Colt).
