Pistol. Semi-Automatic. U.S. Military pistol manufactured the third year of WW2 in 1943. Magazine fed, short recoil. 5" Barrel. Slide mounted front blade and U-notch rear sights. Parkerized "Wartime" metal finish. Grip safety. Lanyard ring. Right frame stamped , to the rear of the slide stop pin is "United States Property" with the serial number below it. "M1911A1 U.S. Army" is stamped to the front of pin. Ordnance stamp is to the rear of the grip panel. Left side of frame is stamped in 2 lines "Ithaca Gun Co. Inc, Ithaca. NY." "P" is stamped in front of the rear sight, and below the magazine release button. Barrel stamped "HP", and "P". No serial number on slide. Right triggerguard is stamped "2" . Left triggerguard has the triangle proof. "FJA" inspectors stamp is present below the slide catch. (Col. Frank J. Atwood) Brown checkered plastic are reinforced , and appear original to the pistol. Bore is excellent/bright, a little dirty. Slide action is smooth/tight. Metal finish is about 70% with edge wear, and some scratches. There is handling loss to the fore strap. Also , someone has etched in very small letters "NCH" under the slide stop. It is not visible. Comes with original unmarked magazine. Also included is Boyt 1942 dated "US" flap holster.
