J.C. Higgins Model 20 12 Ga SN: 7485
The J.C. Higgins line of firearms and sporting goods was used by Sears Roebuck Co. from about 1948-1961 using various makers over that period. The model 20 was made by High Standard. This version was advertised in the Sears catalog as the "De luxe Model" because it has a vent rib barrel and comes with the "POWer PAC" Choke Control System which uses screw in chokes. It features a 22.5" blued vent rib barrel plus the extended choke tube cage which measures 4" for an overall barrel length of 26.5". There were three screw in chokes available the choke that comes with this gun is marked Long Range. It has a brass bead front sight, the mid bead is gone. The receiver has a shell cut-off on the left side with the safety and slide release also on the left. It has a wood "corn cob" style pump with a flat bottom and a smooth wood shoulder stock with sling swivels, black plastic grip cap, J.C. Higgins rubber recoil pad with black spacer and name plate inlay marked JCC. Metal has lost some finish with a couple of spots on top of the rib that are bent in toward barrel like something fell on it or it fell on something. The receiver has some scuffs and scratches and has a serial number unceremoniously stamped into both sides. It looks like someone used and enjoyed this shotgun. Bore looks good. LOP is 14". Condition is NRA Good *C&R Firearm*
