Cal. 45. NSN. Bbl. 40". Full stock percussion Kentucky rifle produced by J. Douglass. Lockplate and cock exhibit light floral engraving. Top flat the rifled octagonal bbl. is marked "J. DOUGLASS". Stock features a brass buttplate, patchbox, trigger guard, sideplate, pinned decorative plate (underside, forward of trigger guard), and ramrod ferrules. Double set trigger. Front sight is no longer present. CONDITION: iron components exhibit a dark gray patina, with oxidation present overall. Lockplate and rear of bbl. exhibit corrosion around the bolster area. Brass components exhibit a pleasing brown patina. Stock exhibits cracks along either side of the bbl. channel and a crack on the left side at the sideplate screw, with chipping present at the tip of the forend and around the lockplate.
