Reeb, Hofbchsenmacher, Bonn, Side-by-Side Double Rifle, #3037, 10.75x65mmR cal., 25-1/2'' blue finish chopper-lump barrels with dovetailed ''U'' notch rear sight and small adjustable front blade, a 7/16'' solid matted rib with inset single-claw mount bases, a large third fastener with cross bolt, a rib mounted 3/4'' sling swivel and nitro proofmarks; case-colored modified boxlock ''Clamshell'' action has oversized reinforcing bolsters and, complementing the design of the action, features unusual clamshell and nautilus ocean themed engraving patterns, with set double triggers, cocking indicator pins, manual top-tang safety and horn triggerguard; face has pressed-in striker disks. Checkered round-knob stock and splinter forend are marbled French walnut finished in a semi-gloss varnish with a medium cheekpiece, horn drop points, sling swivel and a four-cartridge trap on toe line engraved with an elongated diamond pattern on the cover. Length of pull is 14'' to a thin checkered horn buttplate; weight is 7-1/8 lbs. Mechanical condition is very good showing occasional use. Barrels have approx. 90% blue drifting to brown with scattered oxidation, scuffs and scratches. Breech face and muzzles have light oxidation; case colors are buffed silver with traces of color remaining inside the frame. Triggerguard has several chips along the right side. Buttstock needs replacement or repair of the left side panel which has splitting and breakage with a missing corner and a related separation at the rear of the upper tang; buttstock has overall roughness and denting with a chip out of the toe; forend is missing a 2'' section on the right tip; buttplate has chipping along the edges. Action is tight, triggers are light, bores with strong rifling and bright chambers. Est.: $3,500-$5,000. (C&R)
