J. Stevens Model 1877 12 Ga SN: 579
Stevens 3 trigger shotgun with western history. As belonging to A. Neville who brought it to Sabine area between Texas and Louisiana from iconic Jim Andteresa Earle Frontier Arms Collection. This gun was nicknamed the "assassin" and has a dark history of killing, murder, and suicide. A. Neville alleged to be a cousin of the Younger Gang association with Jesse James bought it first to the Sabine area where Lating Parrot obtained it from a saloon keeper who loaned it to Neville. Parrot was related to the pirates who ran with Jean La Fittes famous band. George Pecicillson was gunned down by a cohort of Parrots after he had killed Parrot. The cohort committed suicide in San Antonio after being tracked for murder and theft of horses. The stolen "assassin" was reprocessed and brought back to Sabine area where the bearer then murdered his family in a honor killing. A .McCormc obtained the gun and took it to Zucille, Louisiana where he sold it to Juan Leonne a Mexican who then murdered his family in another honor killing and then turned it on himself. The gun was then traded to John Robert Parrott for grain at his plant. JR Parrot left the gun to Joseph B. Parrott MD, then to John Parrott MD, other recollections of the wild times of the Sabine area are recanted by John H Parrott in his 1973 letter envelope addressed to Jim Earle on his stationary. The envelope was supplied by Sotherby Parke Benet of LA California who had sold the "assassin" Stevens to Earle at auction and put Mr Earle in contact with Parrott. An interesting history and story that deserves further research into the events and area of Sabine. Antique Firearm
