Vintage British side by side double barrel side lock shotgun, manufactured circa 1911. London Nitro proofed, marked for 2-3/4" shells. Features 30" blued Whitworth Steel barrels, choked Full (left), IM (right), high (flat, file cut) top rib, ivory bead front sight, mid bead appears darker ivory or light color horn, case color action with blued top lever & trigger guard, scalloped fences, 8 pins, clip sides, third bite, single trigger, selective ejection, sliding tang safety, checkered walnut splinter forend, walnut shoulder stock with checkered Prince of Wales knob grip, solid rubber recoil pad. Approx stock measurements: 14-3/8" LOP (13.5" to end of wood), 1-1/2" Drop at Comb 2-1/4" Drop at Heel. Slight cast off (approx 1/2"). Crisp markings. Action displays full coverage of fine detail floral scroll engraving, maker marked on plates, "WOODWARD'S SINGLE TRIGGER" in raised engraved letters under receiver. Both barrels, hanger and trigger guard are numbered to receiver. Barrels marked "JW&S" under forend. Left barrel marked "JAMES WOODWARD & SONS 64 ST. JAMES's STREET LONDON SW". Right barrel marked "MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL". Gold inlaid "SAFE" displayed when tang safety to rear. Bores are very good. Barrels show 90% finish with scratches, especially to right barrel forward of knuckle. Case colors are very good on plates, showing blues and grays, some brown colors. Trigger guard and lever retain 90% blue with strong deep color. Remainder of action shows a silvery gray color, even toned. Wood is very good, drop points show good shape, little smoothing to checkering, some thin scrapes and scratches at butt, several nicks to comb. Extra fancy figure shown both sides of butt as well as forend, some fiddle in butt. Condition is NRA Very Good++ *** C&R Firearm ***
