JXM-16 ENGRAVED COLT SA
Colt Single Action Army Revolver in .38-40 caliber with a 5 ½” barrel, factory engraved, blue and case hardened finish, shipped to E.J. Hall & Son, Honolulu, Territory Hawaii, Sept 20, 1923, 1 gun in shipment. Also shows carved pearl medallion grips, silver back strap and trigger guard and lanyard in butt which are not mentioned but S.A. experts believe are factory options. This exact Colt has an inventory card from Ray Biley noted Carson City, Nevada collector who bought this Colt from Chas. Nodherney who was Chief of police for Stickney, Ill in 1947. It was Ray’s first engraved single action and he sold it to buy his mother a washer and drier in 1954. Ray bought it back in 1975 at a gun show in Las Vegas. His card further states “The Chief had it delivered to Honolulu when stationed at Schofield barracks in 1923. This Colt shows 85%-95% of its original blu and case hardened finishes. Minor losses at high points and muzzle. The front sight is its full original height and the edges and markings are sharp. Tight action and bright bore. The engraving is C+ coverage with “V” on the back strap considered the trademark of Wilbur Glahn. Factory engraved blued and case colored single actions are rarely offered and this is the only 1 we know of shipped to territory of Hawaii. Also great provenance to the original owner whose military and police career are yet to be researched. (C& R) Est.: $30,000-$60,000
