Presentation inscribed multi-bladed Farriers folding pocket knife presentation inscribed “Capt. John Brown, J R, 1st Kansas, 1861” with plaque inscribed “Presented by G.W. Loomis”. Absolutely genuine and guaranteedinscriptions. Refer “The Bowie Knife” by Norm Flayderman Page 111 where this exact knife is pictured in color along with 2 other John Brown fighting Kansas relics. John Brown Jr. fought alongside his father all throughbleeding Kansas and in the cause of abolishion. He served in the 1st Kansas Cavalry brigade where he probably saw use for this knife. Approximately 4” when folded and 7” with blades extended. Good overall withnormal wear, aging and use. Great patina. Included with this lot is a historic letter to Hon Gerrit Smith from John Brown Jr. dated Dec 15, 1861 concerning Col. Jennison’s Kansas Brigade, Impending crisis, Indian,enlistments and “Support of the Gov’t in this it’s hour of trail” signed John Brown Jr. An important artifacts of museum quality.
