Black vermilion lacquered metal Cochin kabuto are a folding or collapsible style of helmet which was often worn by samurai and taisho with the Tatami Gusoku set of armor. The Cochin is a hachi kabuto which features four concentric rings. The rings collapse into themselves for flat storage and then can be raised up. These helmets were frequently worn by the famous “Takeda Clan” during the Azuchi-Momoyama era. Ornamental tassel in two holes on the crown. Mabisashi (Visor) has bracket for Maedate. Has the original liner. The Shikoro (Neck Protector) is three panels of cloth covered with chain mail, Has studs for the Fukigayeshi (Temple/ear protectors) Good condition. Comes with wooden stand.
