John Rigby & Co Highland Stalker 250th Anniversary Edition .275 Rigby 22"
Wood Grade 7
Ivory Front Sight
250th Edition Floorplate
Gold Inlay Serial Numbers
London gunmaker John Rigby & Co. proudly announces the release of their highly anticipated 250th anniversary edition rifles, commemorating the company’s quarter-millennium legacy in 2025. This exclusive collection is limited to only 250 rifles, offering collectors and hunting enthusiasts a rare opportunity to own a piece of Rigby history.
The Rigby 250th anniversary edition is available in two iconic models: the Big Game rifle and the Highland Stalker. Customers can choose their preferred model, with the option to select their edition number of 250, or even acquire cased pairs with sequential edition numbers, subject to availability.
The Big Game rifle features a Mauser M98 Magnum action, chambered in the legendary .416 Rigby calibre. The 24-inch barrel has a standard front foresight with removable front sight protector hood. The rear sights feature a standard fixed sight regulated at 65 yards and two folding leaf sights regulated at 150 and 250 yards, with the option to upgrade to gold-inlaid sights. The stock is crafted from grade seven deluxe walnut, measuring 14 ½-inches in length and features a traditional pistol grip shape, with grip cap, an inlaid silver oval and a ¾-inch traditional rubber recoil pad. The double square bridge design includes a single trigger and three-position wing safety.
The Highland Stalker features a Mauser M98 Standard action and is chambered in the renowned .275 Rigby calibre. This model features a 22-inch barrel, the sights include a standard front foresight with removable front sight protector hood, and rear sights regulated at 65, 150 and 250 yards, also with the option to upgrade to gold-inlaid sights. The stock has a traditional rounded grip shape made from grade seven deluxe walnut with a silver oval and includes hand-finished chequering for enhanced grip comfort. It measures 14 ½-inches in length, which includes a ¾-inch traditional rubber recoil pad.
Both models are marked with the 2025 London proof marks, with the rifle’s serial number inlaid in gold on the trigger guard. They feature custom engravings that celebrate Rigby’s rich legacy, including a specially designed floorplate that denotes its limited series number out of 250, the lettering ‘th’ engraved next to the 250-yard rear sight marker and a three-panelled chequered bolt handle engraved with the Rigby 250th anniversary seal logo.
Each rifle comes housed in a durable Rigby expedition case, designed for travel. Clients have the option to upgrade to a lightweight tan canvas case with leather corners, available for both single or pairs of rifles.
Hailed as a traditional deerstalking rifle, the new Highland Stalker is inspired by the same smaller calibre rifles Rigby produced at the turn of the 20th century that were used by iconic British adventurers such as Karamojo Bell and Jim Corbett. Rigby regards the Scottish Highlands as the birthplace of stalking and the title befitting the rifle.
Everyone knows Rigby for large calibre hunting rifles, so the notion of introducing a new small calibre edition required considerable thought. After the phenomenal response to the commemorative Corbett rifle, Rigby realised there was a demand for vintage-looking rifles. For that reason it was decided to model the Highland Stalker on the look of the original .275 Rigby, which was the ubiquitous rifle of its time. After three years of R&D, Rigby is extremely proud of the result: the Highland Stalker’s striking slim lines and lightweight frame makes it ideal for the hill.
