Johnson Model 1941 Semi-Automatic Rifle, by Cranston Arms, #4632, .30-06 cal., 24'' barrel, parkerized finish, walnut stock and forend. A few of these early non-letter prefix rifles went to the U.S. Marine Corps. The huge balance went to the Dutch gov't and were only re-imported to the U.S. in the late 1970s. Many of these Dutch gov't rifles exhibited this type of mist pitting. As they gained popularity with collectors in recent years, new stocks and barrels have become available for restoration purposes. Condition is excellent as restored, having been parkerized over very mild pitting, with new mfg'd walnut buttstock and forend. Rear left side forend screw is missing. Barrel may be a later replacement as the bore is mirror bright. Action is crisp and smooth. Est.: $2,500-$3,500. (C&R)
