Joshua Spies Original
Joshua Spies is internationally known as one of the most gifted and successful wildlife artists of our time. Since graduating from South Dakota State University, this young man has painted professionally for nearly 25 years. Raised in Watertown, South Dakota by a family of avid hunters, Joshua was mentored by Terry Redlin and other well-known South Dakota wildlife painters. Josh has won almost every award possible for a wildlife artist to win, including the prestigious 2008 Federal Duck Stamp Contest. Joshua Spies is an unapologetic big game hunter and conservationist who has travelled the world hunting while studying subject material and wildlife for his spectacular paintings. An addicted sheep hunter, Josh has achieved his Grand Slam while generously donated tens of thousands of dollars to the conservation of North American Wild Sheep and other wildlife. Tonight, Joshua is doing that once again by donating a very special miniature original which just won Joshua the 2018 Miniature National SCI Art Competition! This elegantly framed 5” by 7” acrylic original is of the pending world record Rocky Mt. Bighorn which scores 216 Boone and Crockett. This 9-year-old ram died of natural causes on Wild Horse Island in Flathead Lake in western Montana. The horns of this great ram weigh an incredible 48 pounds and surpass the current world record by a whopping 7 inches!
