Turkish military bolt-action centerfire rifle chambered for 8mm Mauser, and built by the ASFA Ankara Rifle Factory in 1942 (receiver ring date). Imported by Century Arms International out of Georgia, VT. Rifle features a blued finish, an approximately 29-1/2" barrel, bayonet lug, dovetailed inverted 'V' front sight, tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters, stripper clip guide cut into receiver, cleaning rod under barrel, straight bolt handle, three position flag type manual safety, bolt release mounted on the left receiver rail, and smooth curved trigger. The hardwood furniture consists of a smooth semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock with a bolt disassembly ring, smooth forend, smooth handguard, sling swivel on rear barrel band, sling swivel on the bottom of the shoulder stock, and a smooth metal butt plate. The receiver ring is marked with a star and crescent moon, the abbreviations 'T.C.' (Turkiye Cumhuriyeti, or Republic of Turkey), the factory abbreviations 'AS FA' (Askari Fabrika, or Military Factory), 'ANKARA' for the city where the K.Kale factory is located, and the date of manufacture '1942'. The original blue finish retained is approximately 10% with most of the finish almost cleaned, and the finish taking on a mottled gray patina with some brown hues on the receiver. Metal displays a few nicks and dings, and the was spots of rust observed. Furniture wood is in good condition with handling and storage marks. The action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is frosty with strong rifling. The cleaning rod appears to be bent.
