The Union Cutlery Co. would utilize the Trademark “KABAR” in 1923 after a fur trapper killed a bear that attacked him with a Union Cutlery knife and wrote a letter to the Union Cutlery about the incident. The letter was only partially legible, so the phrase “kill a bar” was interpreted as “Ka bar” and was subsequently trademarked. This trademark would soon be applied to their line of switchblades in production at the time, including the Grizzly switchblade. This Grizzly has a full blade with no signs of sharpening and just the slightest blunting on the tip. However, no pieces are missing from the blade and the knife opens and closes well. The bone grips have no chips or cracking and the bolsters are nickel plated. The trademark “KA-BAR” is visible on the ricasso. Patent date 1929. See photos.

We work very hard for the consignor as well as the buyer. The auction moves fast between the auctioneer, the on site bids, and the live internet bids. Because of this, one little delay, or what we call 'hiccup' in the internet connection, can cause an online bid to be missed. We apologize if this happens, but it is sometimes inevitable. Please be aware of this when attending a Proxibid auction.
Due to the element of Third Party Auctions and the reliability/unreliability of technical issues, we reserve the right to end an auction early or extend an auction as we see fit. We value our customers, both buyers and sellers, and try very hard to ensure an exciting, smooth, successful auction! We are happy and willing to work with you under any circumstances.
