"J. JORG" RECONVERTED FROM PERCUSSION. Cal. 64. NSN. 39 1/4" half rnd. half octagon bbl. fitted w/ brass U-notch rear & brass bead front sights. "J. JORG" is newly stamped on top flat w/ pinprick "aging". Flintlock marked "London warranted" on plate w/ rebated tail has been converted from percussion w/ new serpentine cock, faceted pan, bridled frizzen & feather spring. Stock of somewhat curly grain maple extends to muzzle w/ 1 1/2" brass cap is pinned to bbl. Furniture is brass. Rounded trigger guard has spur forming grip. Crescent buttplate has 2 1/2" return. Long iron sideplate has wiggle engraving & marked "1803". Dbl. fluted cheekpiece has crescent moon on face. A hickory ramrod is held by 2 beaded pipes & matching tailpipe. CONDITION: fair to good. Iron parts retaining nearly all dark brown patina, aged areas of gray to brown. Stock retains nearly all old oil finish w/ numerous marks. There is a 9" crack at rear of bbl. on left side & a sm. replaced area of wood in bbl. channel near muzzle on right. Rusted bore. Lock operable. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing.
