ANSCHUTZ. Cal. 8.15 X 46R. S# 6810. Bbls. 29 1/2" Military profile marked "Bohler Stahl" on top rear. Left rear stamped w/ imperial German nitro proofs. S#, caliber & makers mark "U. A." over "Z" in a shield (Udo Anschutz, highly regarded maker of target rifles & pistols from town: Zella " St. Blassii). Bottom of bbl. stamped w/ BUG proofs, caliber & date code (11.34). Lange sight base has been fitted w/ new locked down slide holding windage & elevation adj. V-notch rear sight. Front sight is typical military style under protective nickel plated cover. Large ring Model 98 Mauser action of unknown origin (no maker markings) has stippled receiver ring top w/ unstippled area engraved "Wehrmannbuchse". Bottom of action stamped w/ S# & "UA" in oval. Bolt w/ special rimmed cartridge extractor has had handle lowered & swept for scope use. Cartridge follower appears to be specially made w/ rounded top tray to feed 8.15 x 46R cartridge. No numbers present. Bottom metal does not match & is numbered "B2504". Floorplate is marked "70". Typical military stock of lightly figured dark European walnut has unusual markings on right side of butt, including a circular mark around a dbl. triangle star of David w/ central B (Bohler?), matching S# to action & a Kriegsmarine waffenampt. The toeline stamped w/ "6204" & "S. WEISS". Bbl. bands have liberty cap stamp as found on the 1909 Argentine model. CONDITION: good to fine. Bbl. & action retain nearly all of their original blue w/ some minor sharp edge wear. Stock & action are cut to accept lowered bolt. Bolt is polished bright. Stock has original finish w/ numerous marks, dings & bumps. Markings are clear. Bore is fine, bright, sharp & shiny. (20-787/MGM103). CURIO. $800-1,200.
