BEAVERTAIL FOREND. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 5329. The 28" bbls. with raised flat matted rib are unmarked on tops. Bbl. flats are stamped with serial number and Hunter proofs. Casehardened standard weight action features automatic safety, early type bushed strikers, and double triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved in usual grade "2" style with small sprays of scroll surrounding circular bird scenes; with quail on left and woodcock on right. "L.C.SMITH" is engraved on front of each lockplate. Well figured and lightly marbled European walnut, round knob, long pistol grip buttstock measures 14 5/8" over ribbed hard rubber buttplate. Point pattern checkering wraps over top of grip. Homemade beavertail ejector forend wood retains usual L.C. Smith release and knurled button secondary lock. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS.: Bore Diameter: R: .728", L: .727". Restrictions: R: 020" (MOD), L: .034" (FULL). Minimum Wall Thickness: R: .029", L: .031". STOCK: DAH: 2 1/2". DAC: 1 5/8". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14 5/8" WEIGHT: 7 lbs. 15 oz. CONDITION: fair to good. Newer bbls. retain nearly all of their original blue. Action and lockplates retain perhaps as much as 30% casehardening color. Buttstock retains most of its oil refinish over some fairly deep marks and light scratches. Replacement forend wood retains most of its varnish finish; is not well made, and does not latch to bbls. correctly. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight. Mechanically good EXCEPT rear trigger is EXTREMELY LIGHT. NEEDS ATTENTION! (22-971/MGM). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
