Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# FW96508. The 28" bbls. are fitted w/ concave matted rib w/ 2 white beads. Tops of bbls. are marked in usual L. C. Smith fashion w/ grade & Hunter address. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ S#, "I", & hunter proofs. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped "LONDON STEEL". Case hardened L. C. Smith sidelock action is stamped w/ grade & S# markings on watertable & features nonautomatic safety & dbl. triggers. Action & locks are engraved in normal "Ideal" grade fashion w/ lg. acanthus leaves within wiggle borders. "L. C. SMITH" is stamped on each lockplate. S# is on blued trigger guard tang. What appears to be replacement buttstock is of nicely veined European walnut & measures 14 3/8" over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at pistol grip w/ cap. Matching late style beavertail forend has usual J-spring & knurled button release in ovate escutcheon. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .726", L .726". Restriction: R .006" (IC), L .037" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .034", L .032". STOCK: DAH: 2 1/8". DAC: 1 5/8". LOP: 14 3/8". CAST: approx. 3/16" on. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 6 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: accompanying gun is a factory letter stating some specifications & that this gun was shipped on August 22, 1927. CONDITION: metal condition is very fine, stocks are good quality replacements (possibly factory). Bbls. retain over 95% original blue. Action & lockplates retain 85-90% original case hardening color. Plates thinning at rear & action on bottom where carried. Stocks retain nearly all of their varnish finish w/ a few light marks, checkering lightly worn. Forend is not reinforced & wood is away from iron by about 1/16" & 1 mounting screw is missing. Bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight. (22-141/MGM). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
