'Field Grade,' an American made vintage side-by side double barrel sidelock shotgun chambered for 2-3/4" 12 Gauge shells, manufactured between 1912 and 1950 in Fulton, NY. Shotgun features a blued finish, approximately 28" Armor steel barrels, raised solid rib, extractor, white bead front sight, brass mid-bead, double smooth curved triggers, both bores measures 'IC' (measured with a drop-in gauge), serrated sliding tang safety, and checkered top lever. The walnut furniture consists of a checkered semi-pistol grip shoulder stock, checkered splinter forend, smooth black plastic grip cap, 14-3/4" length-of-pull to the front trigger, 1-5/8" drop at comb, 2-3/4" drop at heel, and a solid brown Decelerator rubber recoil pad with black spacer. The receiver and Locks are color case hardened with the locks marked "L.C. Smith," and the right barrel is marked "L.C. Smith Field Grade". There are matching serial numbers on the receiver, barrels, and forend metal. The original blued finish retained is approximately 97% with very light edge wear, light scratches, and the finish is turning a dark grey/brown color. The receiver and locks color-case finish still exhibit brilliant colors with some fading on the bottom of the receiver. Metal displays no deformation, but there was some areas or light rust on the receiver and barrels. Action is smooth and crisp with the barrel falling slowly under its own weight, and the action lever's alignment is slightly to the right of the tang's centerline. The bores appear to be in excellent condition, but need to be cleaned. Markings are sharp, with exception of a few words in the address line on the left barrel. Furniture wood condition is good to very good for its age with scratches and handling marks, and the gloss to the finish is uneven.
Condition is NRA Very Good.
