Lewis Devendorf was a known Pennsylvania maker of target rifles used in long range competition. Circa 1840-Civil War. C. Baker marked lock plate, The Bakers of Pennsylvania gunsmiths who invented/developed the Kentucky rifle. Features a 33" octagonal/round barrel with windage adjustable front sight, and elevation adjustable sporting rear sights. Half stock with brass furniture, crescent buttplate, Marked "L. Devendorf, Cedarville" on top of barrel. Wood ramrod present, One cock action works well. Metal finish has turned to a gray/brown patina, Marking are crisp/clear. Stock might be a newer replacement. There is damage/loss to the hammer cup. Someone has added a machined steel 1" barrel extension at the muzzle with a post sight, There is a slight crack on the left stock above the trigger. NRA Condition-Good. Antique Firearm.
