Cal. about 40. NSN. Bbl. 33 3/8" oct. Top flat is marked "L&L No 38". German silver blade front sight w/ fixed V notch rear sight. Bolster style Percussion conversion. Engraved trade lock has no remaining visible name. Dbl. set triggers. Half length cheek piece walnut stock w/ artificially striping & pewter nose cap. Brass fittings consist of crescent buttplate, toe plate, finger curl trigger guard, side plate escutcheon & faceted thimble. Replacement hardwood ramrod is held on iron under rib by 2 plain brass pipes. Oval brass tag marked "J.M. DAVIS / 7236 / MEMORIAL" is attached to trigger guard. The JM Davis Firearms Museum in Claremore, OK is home to the world's largest privately held firearms collection. CONDITION: metal has gray brown appearance w/ numerous dents & marks having heavy rust at breech area. Nipple bolster is loose, nipple is crushed. Lock will not cock. Stock shows heavy wear & handling marks w/ repaired cracks in forearm & tip areas. Dark pitted bore w/ largely intact rifling. PROVENANCE: From the JM Davis Museum Collection. (01-19901/DS).
