Cal. 32 RF. S# 1138. Bbl. 5", octagon with triangular-shaped brass blade front sight and frame notched rear. Mfg. 1861-1870 In Worcester, MASS by Lucius Willson Pond has a silver-plated iron frame, a blued barrel, rosewood grips, a pin latch (rather than the earliest lever latches), a case-colored hammer, and spur trigger. Serial number on the butt along with the serrated-headed screwdriver is most often used for cylinder removal. Assembly number 205 is visible on the grips, left side of the frame under the grip, cylinder stop, cylinder, cylinder pivot, and barrel. Offered in a brass frame plus barrels of 4 or 6 inches. Earlier example with July 10, 1860 patent date on barrel made before lawsuit by S&W for violation of their Rollin White patent; after 1862 lawsuit, remaining 4,486 revolvers on hand were given S&W markings and 1855 patent date. CONDITION: good example with no remaining silver finish. Traces of bright barrel bluing, but no case colors. Very good grips with minimal light marks. Good to very good bore with distinct rifling, bright appearance, and areas of light pitting. Good mechanical functioning and timing; hair trigger. (01-25001/NW). ANTIQUE. $350-500.
