Special Note: This 6-day free range wood bison hunt/wolf is a very exciting hunting opportunity. The Canadian wood bison is a unique trophy, which, only recently, has become importable, as a result of a 12-year battle by Conservation Force, a pro-hunting non-profit organization, supported financially by WSF and many other hunting organizations. You need to fly into Fort Smith airport, NWT, and all transportation during the hunt, food and accommodations, as well as field dressing of your trophy, skinning, quartering are included.

Because the outfitter is sold out for 2013, this hunt is scheduled to be taken during February/March, or May/June, 2014., as worked out with the outfitter. If you buy it, book ASAP. The hunts start at first light. For the first season (Feb/March) it will be extremely cold (-40F), with the primary means of transportation being ski-doos. Plan on temperatures during the second season to be warmer (45F to 70F), and you can expect wet, slippery conditions, while your primary means of transportation will be quads, and it is recommended that you bring bug spray.

These hunts are physically demanding affairs in extreme temperatures for truly wild game, not semi-domesticated animals in a field. Wood bison are generally about 20% larger than plains bison and are considered the largest native extant terrestrial mammal in North America. Mature males average up to 2500 lbs. The wolf hunt is opportunistic, occurring while searching the large areas required in pursuing the Canadian bison.
