LARGE BORE LONG BARRELED YORK COUNTY STYLE

PENNSYLVANIA RIFLE BY I DOLL RECONVERTED FROM PERCUSSION. Cal. 57. NSN. Bbl. 51" oct. to rnd., fitted w/ V notch rear & barley brass front sights are deeply stamped "I DOLL" (working circa 1790 York, PA) on top flat behind sight. Bbl. shows evidence of being converted from drum & nipple percussion. Lock w/ plate marked "M. M. MASLIN" is also reconverted. Flat plate w/ rebated tail has scroll engraving. Full length stock of curly maple attaches to bbl. w/ side nails & is brass mounted. Triggerguard has spur forming grip. Crescent buttplate has 3 1/2" return. Long sideplate is nicely chamfered. Old hickory ramrod mounts through 2 beaded pipes & thimble. Wrist is coarsely checkered in skip line pattern & cheekpiece is on left side. CONDITION: bbl. has old brown patina, lock is dark gray to brown. Stock has old refinish & is relatively sound w/ restorations at top & in front of lock & added wood for 8" at muzzle. Lock is operable, but weak. Bore rusted w/ strong rifling. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19709/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
