LARGE GROUPING OF WW1 ITEMS, BELTS & 2 SCABBARDS.
1) US WW1 MODEL 1917 HELMET. Patterned after the British Brodie helmet & used until the beginning of WW2, when the M1 helmet became available. Green painted helmet is marked on underside of brim “HS” & “393”. Suspension has been removed, leaving chin strap attachments & partial cloth/felt liner. CONDITION: helmet has wear, fading, oxidation & scratches. (02-13667/RW). 2) Navy web & leather cartridge belt for the 6mm Lee Magazine rifle, M1895 aka the Lee “Straight Pull”. Dark blue webbing w/ black leather pocket flaps. The 12 pockets can hold a maximum of 120 rds. 3) Philippine Constabulary waist belt modified to a cartridge belt around 1902. Leather belt w/ looped cartridge holders. 2 Piece interlocking brass buckle features a central medallion w/ “P.C.”. 4) M1858 cartridge box & sling. Cartridge box features a central oval “US” plate on the front & is marked on the interior flap “W.K. WILKINSON MAKERS SPGFLD. MASS”. Sling is missing its plate but features a legible maker’s mark & sub-inspector’s mark. 5) M1876 cartridge belt w/ M1879 trial modification. Brass buckle w/ canvas cartridge loops & leather tongue marked “WATERVLIET ARSENAL” & “A.R. SMITH”. There are 3 brass loops on the bottom for attachments of various equipment. 6) Scabbard for a M1880 hunting knife w/ RIA marked brass belt clip at the top. Scabbard body also marked, “ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL”. 7) M1885 trapdoor carbine sling/belt w/ brass buckle & belt tip. Belt has inspector’s marks & issue marks near the tip. Sling is complete w/ swivel marked “NORTH”. 8) Private purchase carbine sling/belt. Brass buckle w/ leather tip. Belt marked, “R*NECE PHILADA”. Belt has an embossed pattern to the leather. Sling is complete w/ unmarked swivel. 9) Leather scabbard, possibly for an entrenching tool or shovel. Leather shoulder strap w/ iron roller buckle. Scabbard pouch is sewn w/ iron rivets. 10) M1912 cavalry bandolier by Mills. Cotton web construction in tan w/ 10 clip pockets & 3 smaller pockets in the center. CONDITION: all items show light to moderate wear but remain complete & serviceable. (02-13669/BF). 11) 6 Pocket ammunition bandolier, mfg. by Winchester Repeating Arms Co. & contains 120 rds. of Model 1906 ball cartridges. Card in pocket states for Model 1903 rifle. Bandolier & card are marked “LOT A/318”. Ammunition is head stamped “W.R.A. CO.” & “18”. Pockets have cardboard lining. Bandolier is khaki colored w/ light green cloth strap & safety pin. Ammunition is heavily corroded, particularly notable in the neck & primer areas. Cloth has tight stitching & generally good appearance w/ scattered stains. / 1 Model 1917 khaki web belt equipped w/ 2 model 1917 ammunition pockets w/ lift the dot fasteners. This allowed a sm. quantity of ammunition to be carried for sentry duty. Pockets have indistinct inked markings on back. Pockets also have puckered bottoms. Belt w/ blackened brass fittings is likewise unmarked. Belt & pockets appears to be in good, serviceable condition w/ light wear & staining. / 1 Model 1903 khaki web belt w/ integral pockets w/ eagle snaps. Belt has 9 pockets & is unmarked except for inked unit markings on back which include crossed rifles, “I3 ORD” & “S6”. Belt has tight stitching & appears to be in generally serviceable condition w/ light wear & staining. (02-13702/RW). $1,400-2,100.
