LATE BRASS FRAME MODEL HENRY RIFLE WITH HENRY

SLING. Cal. 44 HRF. S# 7359. The 24" octagonal barrel with integral magazine tube has 5" pivoting muzzle section for loading. Barrel is fitted with flip up long range sight, German silver blade front. Top of barrel is marked "HENRYS PATENT. OCT. 16, 1860" and "MANUFACTURED BY THE NEW HAVEN ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CT." Serial number is at rear of sight. Brass frame has iron lever with lock on tang and is marked with half of an "H" on rear of tang. Walnut buttstock is fitted with cast brass crescent buttplate with pointed heel with trap in butt. An old leather sling is mounted in iron loop affixed to left side of butt with hook engaging loop screwed to left side of barrel. Sling is marked "HENRYS REPEATING RIFLE" and with patent info. CONDITION: good to very good as found. Iron parts exhibit nearly all brown to dark brown patina over considerable frosting and light pitting but do not appear to have been cleaned. Action very nicely toned to light brown with some hand worn highlights on edges which are mostly sharp. There are some scratches on left sideplate. Some areas have small patches of verdigris from contact with sling leather. Stock retains most of its original finish with some fairly deep scratches and marks. Sling is good, leather still relatively supple. Marking although clear is under adjustment buckle. Bore is fair, rifling evident, considerably pitted and dark. (01-20913/MGM). ANTIQUE. $15,000-20,000.
