LATE BRASS FRAME MODEL HENRY RIFLE WITH HENRY

SLING. Cal. 44 HRF. S# 6003. The 24" octagonal barrel with integral magazine tube has 5" pivoting muzzle section for loading. Barrel is fitted with flip up long range sight, German silver blade front. Top of barrel is marked "HENRYS PATENT. OCT. 16, 1860" and "MANUFACTURED BY THE NEW HAVEN ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CT." Serial number is at rear of sight. Brass frame has iron lever with lock on tang and is marked "H" on rear of tang. Walnut buttstock is fitted with cast brass crescent buttplate with pointed heel with trap in butt. An old leather sling is mounted in iron loop affixed to left side of butt with hook engaging loop screwed to left side of barrel. Sling is marked "HENRYS REPEATING RIFLE" and with patent info. CONDITION: barrel cleaned to pewter gray with considerable amount of brown stain remaining with light overall pitting. Frame is nicely toned to mustard brown with sharp edges rounded. Lever and hammer are also brown patina. Lever shows a weld repair in trigger guard bow. Buttstock is fine with a number of marks in its original finish. Sling is cracked and quite tender and has sewn in repairs in area of marking. Bore is good with strong rifling, considerably pitted. Mechanically good. (01-20914/MGM). ANTIQUE. $15,000-20,000.
