LATE KENTUCKY TYPE FULL STOCK RIFLE WITH BARREL

AND LOCK SALVAGED FROM AN 1803 HARPER'S FERRY RIFLE. Cal. 585 smooth bore. 32 3/4" Half rnd., half oct. bbl. w/ remnants of proof at left rear is fitted w/ U notch rear & brass blade front sights. Lock of 1803 style has reinforced cock, integral pan & bridled friction frizzen, feather spring w/ bulbous finial. Lock is unmarked, however the remnants of eagles left wing tip is visible below pan. Bbl. underrib has been removed to accommodate walnut full stock w/ brass muzzle cap that is brass mounted w/ trigger guard having finger spur, heavy crescent buttplate, typical military sideplate & beaded ramrod pipes w/ matching thimble. Grip is skip line checkered. CONDITION: fair to good. Bbl. mostly old dark brown patina w/ worn highlights. Lock appears to be in original flint w/ cock replaced. Stock has old oil refinish w/ details rounded. There is a lg. crack on left side across toe w/ old repair. Bore is good, pitted. Touchhole has been bushed & is oversized. Lock will not cock.
