Cal. 12 ga. S# FWE57862. Bbls. 26" w/ brass bead having platinum band near breech end of rib. The Eagle grade replaced the pre-1913 grade 4. The Eagle grade is recognizable for the stippled background on its action that was not used on any other grade of LC Smith. Right lockplate features a flying goose, left lockplate a flying pheasant. Birds are surrounded by foliate scroll that continues to other action areas. Top lever is stippled w/ a relief engraved open winged eagle. Hunter 1 single selective trigger. Selective ejectors. Ebony tipped splinter forearm & hard rubber capped pistol grip stock of fancy walnut have hand checkering. LOP: 14 1/4" over an original buttplate. DAC: 2 1/16". DAH: 3 7/8". Neutral cast. Bore diameter: R .729 L .733. Choke constriction: R cyl. L .735. Minimum wall thickness: R .020 L .019. Forcing cones & chambers are lengthened. WEIGHT: 6 lbs, 8.4 oz. Mfg. 1923. A total of only 562 eagle grade shotguns were mfg. 1912-1939. CONDITION: bbls. retain 98% reblued finish. Action is fading to silvery gray w/ small amounts of case colors in protected areas. Stocks have worn finish showing numerous scratches & marks. Bores are bright, chambers show reamer marks. (24-1818/DS). CURIO. $3,500-5,000.
