Cal. 12 Ga., 2/3". S# 54611. Bbl. 26" w/ slightly raised, matted rib, engraved w/ maker’s name & address & “DAMASCUS STEEL” on breech monoblock. Bbl. set has been sleeved w/ joint lines nicely blended. Rear portions of bbls. have usual raised Ogee sweeps found on high grade Lefevers. Case hardened action is nicely filed & incorporates all of Lefever’s later style improvements. Dbl. triggers are gold plated. Action is engraved w/ line borders & sprays of scroll w/ some geometric highlights. Lockplates are engraved w/ Lefever’s usual high quality scroll & nicely detailed dbl. dog vignettes w/ a pair of setters on left & pointers on right. Maker’s name is engraved at the front of each plate. Patent dates are stamped on front of triggerplate & triggerguard w/ scene of two flying ducks on bow has S# on tang. Buttstock w/ original inlet horn drop points has had butt section behind grip replaced w/ somewhat streaked & figured European walnut. Stock presently measures 14 1/2" over checkered butt. Checkering at grip has shaped intrusion toward comb. Grip cap appears to be original. What appear to be original grade stampings & S# are under cap. Matching splinter forend has desirable “clam shell” release. MEASUREMENTS: BORE DIA.: Left .724. Right .725. BORE RESTRICTIONS: Left .017 Mod. Right .009 IC. WALL THICKNESS: Left .035. Right .040. DAC: 1 9/16". DAH: 2 1/4". WEIGHT: 7 lbs 5 oz. CONDITION: fine as reconditioned. Bbls. retaining nearly all professional reblack. Action retains 25-35% original case hardening color. Lockplates have over 85% of their color. Front portion of buttstock & forend retain most of their original oil finish w/ perhaps some added oil. Newer butt section retains nearly all of its oil finish. Checkering lightly worn. Renewed checkering into new butt section relatively crisp. Triggers retain most of their original gold plating. Bores are bright & shiny. Mechanically fine. (21-3135/MGM). CURIO. $2,000-4,000.
