LEFEVER ARMS COMPANY PRESENTATION GRADE WITH

FEATURES FOUND ON BOTH “C” AND “D” GRADE GUNS WITH TWO SETS OF ORDNANCE STEEL BARRELS. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 31770. Many LeFever guns do not conform to standard grade designations and are often termed “Presentation”. This is one such gun. There are two sets of original barrels, one 28" and the other 30". Both are fitted with slightly raised matted concave game ribs set with white beads. Tops of barrels are engraved “ORDNANCE”, “STEEL”. There are no grade markings or other information on barrel flats or bottoms of barrels except for serial numbers. The 28" barrels are stamped with serial number “31752X” and also with this guns serial number as often found on LeFever guns with multi barrel sets. Barrels do not have filed in ogees on sides as normally found on guns of “C” grade . Action of typical late style with automatic three position safety, pivoting top lever, in frame ejectors and late style cocking hook. Also features usual cocking indicators and double triggers. Action is engraved with sprays of scroll within line and some geometric borders. Lock plates are engraved with matching borders and scroll along with single dogs in circular vignettes with a pointing pointer on left and setter on right. The amount of engraving is that normally found on “D” grade guns. Replaced trigger plate has early patent dates, latest being “94”. Blued trigger guard is engraved to match action and has a head of spaniel retrieving a duck on trigger guard bow. Serial number is on short tang. Capped pistol grip buttstock of well marbled and lightly figured European walnut measures 14" over hard rubber buttplate with “L.A.C.O.” logo. Typical “C” grade checkering is at grip. C grade inlet horn drop points are not present. Removal of grip cap reveals this guns serial number and grade letter “C”. A vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend with inlet steel tip has central hard rubber medallion embossed with spaniel’s head. DIMENSIONS: 28" barrels: Bore diameter: .738", choke restriction: .003"(IC).
