S# J809. Cal. 45. The London Armory Company produced approx. 11,000 large bore revolvers mostly destined for the Confederacy. This revolver is among highest serial numbers noted & is likely postwar manufacture or made too late to make it to Confederacy. Revolver has 5 1/2" octagon bbl. w/ London black powder proofs & "LAC" on top left flat. Left side of action is stamped "LONDON ARMORY". Right is engraved "Kerr's Patent 11327". This number also appears on cyl. Backspring peninsula type percussion lock w/ rnd. bodied hammer is engraved "London Armory Co.". Checkered walnut one-piece grip has steel cap w/ lanyard ring. CONDITION: very good-fine overall, original and complete, markings all discernible, traces of finish, internal number on frame “J809”. Mechanically slightly out of time. Occasionally jams. Good rifled bore, dark in grooves. PROVENANCE: From a North Carolina Estate. (01-20935/JS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-4,000.
