EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER GAME GUN W/ CASE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 1/2". S# 19089. This superb high quality gun has 28" expertly struck dovetailed bbls. fitted w/ narrow swamped game rib engraved "W.M. CASHMORE. MAKER. BIRMINGHAM." "SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL". Bbl. flats stamped w/ Birmingham nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. Bottoms of bbls. stamped w/ "Whitworth "Sheaf of wheat" trademarks & actual maker's initials "W. F." (William Ford?). A Best Birmingham nib is at muzzle end of bottom rib. Case hardened sidelock action is stocked to the fences & features automatic safety ("S," inlaid in gold). Sliding hidden third fastener, & Baker's patent single selective trigger. Pushing blade forward changes order of firing from right & left to left & right. Opening lever resets sequence. Action & lockplates engraved w/ near full coverage exceptionally well cut classic rose & scroll. Action is very nicely filed & fences are relief carved w/ delicate fern leaves. Blued top lever w/ matching scroll has filed in chevron in front of thumb piece. Blued trigger guard has solid filed in return & matching scroll engraving on small bow. Tang, w/ S# at grip, extends to horn grip cap. Capped pistol grip buttstock of very attractively dark marbled & lightly figured European walnut, measures 14 & 5/8" over checkered wood butt. Stock also features classic drop points, closely spaced point pattern checkering w/ mullered borders at grip & a gold shield engraved "J.R. M." "1921" on top of stock near heel. Matching splinter Southgate ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: Bore diameter: left .727, right .729. Bore restrictions: left 0.015 (Mod), right .030 (Full). Minimum wall thickness: left .029, right 0.029. DAH: 2 3/4". DAC: 1 1/2"-. Cast: 1/2" off. WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 7 oz.. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: russett leather case embossed A.H.C. on top lined in burgundy cloth contains exterior straps. CONDITION: fine as partially refinished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a very fine dark black rust blue. Engraving still sharp & clear. Action & lockplates retain a considerable amount, possibly as much as 40% original case hardening color. Quite strong where protected. Top lever w/ nearly all of its original charcoal blue is silvered on thumb piece. Trigger guard retains about 40% of its original blue silvered at grip. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their original oil finish w/a considerable amount of added oil & a scattering of marks. Checkering is lightly worn & has not been recut. Moderate wear to checkering is evident on forend. Bores are very fine w/ no evidence of dent removal or other imperfections. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are slightly out of time. Case leather is very good w/ a few minor scuffs. Original handle is good. Straps missing their ends. Interior cloth is good w/ some compressions, partitions are tight. A truly fine attractive gun w/ great dimensions & balance that measures well. (21-1403/MGM). CURIO. 6,000-10,000.
