RIFLE. Cal. 38 WCF (38-40). S# 1931. Bbl. 24" w/ German silver blade sporting front sight & elevated adj. sporting rear sight. Full length mag. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer & lever. Walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ crescent steel buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of Cody Firearms Museum factory letter dated Jan. 13, 2016 stating: "Serial number applied on June 08, 1892. Type: Rifle. Caliber: 38. Barrel Type: Octagon. Trigger: Plain. Receiver in warehouse on September 20, 1892. Shipped from warehouse on September 31, 1892, order number 6101.". CONDITION: an all original, very early rifle. Bbl. & mag. tube retain 80% dull lightly faded original blue showing edge wear & scattered spots of a light corrosion & pitting. Action retains some fading blue on sides in protected areas w/ blending w/ brown showing handling marks & edge wear. Sides of hammer & lever show traces of case colors. Original wood finish has a worn, age darkened appearance showing scattered dents, scratches & marks. Sound mechanics. Bore is bright w/ strong rifling, showing spots of very light pitting.
