Large Ring Flatside Commercial Mauser Broomhandle Semi-Automatic Pistol, with Matching Stock, #24290, 7.63 Mauser cal., 5.5" barrel, straw-colored trigger, internal magazine, fixed front sight, tangent adjustable rear sight from 50-1000, original rust blued finish, hardwood grips with 23 grooves, lanyard ring at bottom of grip frame, fire blued safety, extractor, rear sight adjuster, firing pin, action wedge, and grip screws, with matching numbered wood stock holster. All visible numbers are matching. Commercial "(crown)/U" proof mark on slide. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 92% of its original rust blued finish, with high edgewear on the side rails of the slide, slight wear on the high edges of the upper slide, side edges and front of magazine cover, and heavier bluing wear and scratches on rear frame and back gripstrap. There are light scratches on the bottom of the magazine cover plate, a small spot of micro-pitting at the rear of the frame on the right side, and a small spot on the upper left rear corner of the slide boss. Fire bluing on the extractor is about 70%, the rear sight adjuster has some light high edgewear, as does the action wedge. Bolt is in the white, with some rust stains and spotting, and a small rust spot on the side near the front. Back of the frame shows some small dings and scratches around the takedown lever and around the shoulder stock groove. Trigger has a mottle grey patina, with light stains and old dried grease. Bore shows light frosting with strong lands and grooves. Left grip has had some light brown epoxy filler added just under the screw hole, down the left grip, and at the bottom. It has been sanded, which removed most of the bottom groove. Bottom of both grips has this epoxy filler in a depression left by the lanyard ring. Grips have numerous small dings, scratches, light depressions, and show age and losses to the finish from use. The straw color on the trigger shows minor rust stains and spotting and wear to the front from use. Safety lever shows some high edgewear on the ring. Stock metal attaching piece has original matching numbers to the gun; finish on the metal attachment piece is worn thin showing a gray patina with light rust stains and numerous light dings on the bottom arm. Stock has carved letters on the left side that read "E.C. Day", worthy of some research. Stock may have had the folding butt piece replaced with another original piece, as the fit and alignment does not match perfectly. Hinge plate shows heavy wear to the finish, with a dark gray patina, rust stains, and light pitting. Body of the stock shows a repaired crack at the back with some epoxy visible on the inside, numerous dings, dents, scratches, a large dent in the top side, and may have been sanded a long time ago. Overall a very nice gun that survived with its original shoulder stock for over 120 years. Est.: $4,000-$6,000. (C&R/PPT)
