Vintage American made side-by-side box-lock shotgun chambered for 2-3/4" 12 Gauge shells, and manufactured around 1922. Ithaca offered the Nitro Express between 1921 and 1947 as an entry-level model. It became the most common Lefever model due to it being produced through 1947. Shotgun features blued approximately 28" low ribbed barrels, brass bead front sight, the fixed chokes measure 'Full' on the left and 'Modified' on the right (measured with a drop-in gauge), smooth curved double triggers, annular cut top lever, serrated sliding manual tang safety, shell extractor, and color-case hardened receiver. The refinished black walnut furniture consists of a round-knob pistol gripped shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, checkered splinter forend, 14-1/2" length-of-pull to the front trigger, 1-13/16" drop at comb, 2-3/4" drop at heel, and a red Red Head ventilated recoil pad with a black spacer. The receiver depicts a small waterfowl scene on both sides. The original blued finish retained is approximately 95% with edge wear at the muzzle, handling wear on the rib and a small amount along the barrel. The color-case finish retained is approximately 65% with carry wear, and the finish starting to take on a brown patina. Metal displays a very small amount of deformation in one of the screw slots, and there is a some minor spots by the chamber area that appear to be rust and light pin-prick pitting. The action functions soundly and quickly falls under its own weight, and the top lever rests to the right of the tang's centerline. The refinished furniture wood is in fair condition with cracks and repairs the the forend, and some moderate to heavy handling marks to the left side of the shoulder stock. Bores are bright and shiny, but need to be cleaned.
Condition is NRA Near Good.
